‘Hey, look how many likes I got?’

We’re living in a world obsessed with the opinion of others. It happens in every aspect of life. New car; hey mines better than yours. New phone; I got the newest one. Twitter; look at all those followers. Instagram; I get so many likes on all my pictures. It even happens with Pokèmon now, people posting the ones they caught so everyone can be jealous? Sure, even this blog is a way for me to try and get others to follow and like it.

Why are we like this? Why is the opinion of everyone else so important to us? In one way we use how everyone else is doing as a reference to see how well we’re doing in life. That’s a fact. But it just seems now that it’s gotten out of hand. A lot of us won’t do what we want to do because of the negative opinions of a small group of people. It’s silly but it’s true. In reality, nobody really gives a shit what you’re up to because they’re too busy worrying about their own lives and what people think of them.

We’re all culprits though, it’l really is part of human nature. But why is it part of us? I always imagine that if they internet just disappeared one day we’d all sit around and realise the amount if time we put into showing off our lives online was the most pointless shit ever, and that we should really be concentrating on developing the close relationships we have. That’s where the real money is.

Don’t get me wrong though, I’m 100% gonna continue to post on Insta and Twitter coz I look damn good in a Hawaiian shirt and the world NEEDS to know that. This post is just food for thought.

Stay woke.
